The course includes a short description of the fundamental networking principles and devices (OSI and TCP/IP models) and the different types of networking areas (e.g. WAN, LAN, etc.). In addition, the aforementioned elements will be reviewed and assessed from a security perspective. More specifically, the topics to be discussed will include the current threat agents and available attacks – scanning, malware, MAC spoofing, sniffing, etc. – along with the corresponding security mechanisms that act as protection of the above (firewalls, IPsec, IPS, IDS, etc.).
