This course is designed to prepare the student through practice knowledge and experience with cognitive and behavioral theory and treatment (CBT) procedures for children and adults.
The course includes theoretical frameworks that underlie CBT. It covers principles of operant and respondent conditioning and cognitive models based mainly on the theories of A. T. Beck. Cognitive/behavioral case formulation and assessment of specific problem areas is presented using child and adult cases and intervention methods discussed. Role play,
social skills training, relaxation and exposure procedures are also presented.
